Local hardware, heavy files, no stable network — the desktop is still the right tool.
Not everything belongs in the browser. Software that works against printers, scanners and card readers; that processes heavy files; or that runs where the network is not stable — is right to build as desktop software.
We build new desktop software, and we also take over veteran programs for maintenance and further development — including ones whose original author is no longer available. The common combination is a local station working against a central server.

Why desktop and not web?
When the software works against local hardware, processes heavy files, or runs where the network is not stable — the browser is a constraint. In other cases we will recommend web; the specification decides, not habit.
Do you maintain veteran desktop software too?
Yes. Part of our work is taking over existing software, mapping it and continuing its development — even when its original author is no longer available.
Can desktop be combined with a web system?
That is the common combination: a local station working against a central server. The ALIST registration stations are built this way.
